CAT

CAT ( Cognitive Analytic Therapy) developed by Tony Ryle, is a relational psychotherapy which looks at patterns of feelings, thoughts and behaviours. For many reasons we have adopted certain patterns of behaviour from our past and upbringing to help us survive and cope with stressful and traumatic events at that time. However, such relational patterns may be unhelpful to us today and can adversely affect our relationships around us as adults.

By working together, we can identify and resolve some of the issues you may have, with an understanding of where they have come from, helping you to make the changes you would like to see in your life.

In addition, I can incorporate EMDR within CAT therapy and also offer follow up sessions.

Evidence base references:

CAT is referenced in NICE guidelines, particularly in relation to conditions like emotionally unstable personality disorder and eating disorders.

The WHO ( World Health Organisation) emphasises the importance of diverse psychological therapies within mental health care, and CAT falls within that scope.
