EMDR

EMDR will help your brain to heal naturally, so you don't have to talk in-depth about your trauma...

EMDR  ( Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) pioneered by Francine Shapiro, helps by changing how your brain stores traumatic memories. Usually, when something traumatic happens, the memory gets stuck in a part of your brain that doesn't process information like regular memories. So, when you think about it, it feels like you're reliving it. Working together we can help move that memory to a different part of your brain, so it's not so emotionally charged, and you are able to think differently about the trauma.

EMDR uses eye movements which is similar to REM sleep, to help your brain process and make sense of the traumatic memories. It's kind of like how your brain naturally deals with difficult experiences when you're dreaming. Tapping and sensory can also be used as other techniques.

I practice the 8 phase EMDR protocol. The number of sessions varies based on your individual needs, however processing single-incident traumas often requires a shorter course of treatment.

Evidence based:

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend EMDR, specifically for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). EMDR is also effective in treating other mental health disorders.
